Kyshona End-of-Year Update
Hello team,
Hang tight… this is a long one!
Remember that time I said I was taking a break… HAAAA! The universe laughs at me and my decisions.
I DID surrender. I surrendered hard. I surrendered to the utmost. And the moment I took my foot off the gas, opportunities slid into the passenger seat yelling “Let’s go girl! Go! Go! Go!!!”.
So although I’ve been home and able to focus on grounding myself, I’ve still had some amazing moments come my way.
The ladies and I have been recording some new songs in the studio. EXCITING!
Your Song was gifted $10,000 from our friend and Local Legend, Jason Eskridge, by way of Wild Turkey and Matthew McConaughey. “Alright alright alright”!
Your Song is now fiscally sponsored by The Arts and Business Council of Greater Nashville, which means that anyone can make a tax deductible donation to my organization. YAY! And…we raised $1,500 on Giving Tuesday! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that donated! I even saw my oboe professor from college, Dr. Manning, gave. Seeing so many of your names from my past on the donor list TRULY means the world to me.
I was asked to assemble a choir for a few of Jennifer Nettles’s Christmas tour dates which meant I got to hang out with my friends for a week, I FINALLY saw the inside of the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall and geeked out on the first chair oboist. AAAAANNNND I sang on the Fox Theatre stage in Atlanta…. all while watching Ms. Jennifer Nettles be kind, attentive and flawless both during rehearsals and on stage. Goals.
I've been invited to perform in a virtual concert "One Mic Christmas: in support of MusiCares." MusiCares has helped me in so many ways over the past 4 years. Not only did they provide grant funding to myself and COUNTLESS other musicians that were out of work in 2020, but they also have provided me with grant funding so that I can see a therapist. On December 16 at 8pm CST, One Mic Christmas will go live at onemicchristmas.com with a slew of amazing artists and their offerings of holiday music and cheer. Please consider watching and donating! They have saved me and many other artists around the globe so much. Participating in this program is my one small way of saying thank you to them. Join me!

Lastly, the other night I had the opportunity of playing in the backing band for a young camper of mine, Jazmine Croom. Remember her name. She’s a solid songwriter and gem of a human being. She opened for Hannah Dasher at the CMA Theatre and TOTALLY crushed it. I mean… just look at how poised she is in front of a room of music execs!
All this to say, the team and I have been planning and plotting for 2022/2023 and I’m really excited for what’s to come. I’m having to learn to slow down and manage my expectations. Thank goodness people have come to know me well enough that they can tell me when I’m being unrealistic. =)
Growth.
Thank you to you all that have sent messages and DMs with a polite side eye to my idea of “resting.” Thank you for staying on this journey with me.
I love y’all. I and I really mean that.
Your fan,
Kyshona
